Mary Frances, born 1918, was the eldest survivor of the fourteen children of Marie Blanche and Charlie. As the eldest child in an ever-expanding family, more responsibilities were thrust upon her in the chaos of living with her mother’s in-laws on the edge of Tignish. There is only one photograph of Frances in her childhood dating from the earliest years, and with her in the photo is her beloved sister Elise.
