Welcome to my LIFE STORY!

It all begins in Tignish in the little house on the left, when in 1944, my mother placed her newborn baby with her Acadian parents so that she could return to Halifax for the employment provided by World War II. The house on the right, a fine small farmhouse built in Belle River around 1890, is where I have ended up after all those intervening years, filled with many adventures, joys and troubles. I have been living here since 2000 and hope to finish my days in this lovely spot. I am struck by the similarity of the gable ends of both houses. They are very similar, and each house was placed on a similar tiny triangular lot of land. Things perhaps go around in circles, and we return to where we started. Hopefully in my story there will be evidence that I worked hard to improve my lot in life.

 

The Arrangement of the Story

This blog will have its posts arranged CHONOLOGICALLY  that is, in the order in which things happened. I start my story at the beginning, in the Late Victorian Period, when my maternal ancestors established themselves in Lot 1, in the Tignish/Palmer Road area in West Prince County.

Because I see my life as a tiny component in the progress of time, I only appear in Post #6, at that magical moment in the chronology when I arrive in Tignish in a cardboard box – not in an Oscar Wilde handbag. So you will have to bear with me as I set the scene with an account of what came before – in the region and in my mother’s family.
